The M2A4 technical account identifies a Continental radial petrol engine, vertical volute spring suspension, and a transmission with five forward speeds and reverse. Its nominal road speed is given as 36 mph, with range around 70 miles. Those figures belong to the cited M2A4 specification and cannot be applied indiscriminately to every M2 model, test vehicle, or engine installation. Sources

Diesel references are preserved with uncertainty about quantities and configuration boundaries. The account likewise does not establish a universal radio fit. Army, Marine Corps, and British use

The Army used the M2 family extensively in preparation and training. The Marine Corps acquired the cannon-armed M2A4 as it developed its own tank organization and the practical ability to land armored vehicles with an amphibious force.
